Sous Chef (Junior Sous Chef)

We are now recruiting for a talented (Junior) Sous Chef to help to lead a team of chefs at The White Hart Inn.
This exciting opportunity in a privately owned gastro pub is nestled in the Essex countryside. We have built a reputation of providing classic pub dishes, exciting seasonal dishes and unique menus for special occasions.

We won Essex Life fine dinning pub of the year in 2016 and are currently listed in the Good Food Guide for 2018.

The Junior / Sous Chef's role will be to support the Head Chef and his team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen operation. You must have a complete understanding of all current Food hygiene and Health & Safety aspects of the role. As Junior / Sous Chef you will assist in maintaining standards set by the head Chef and ensuring that quality products and ingredients are used and served at all times. As Junior / Sous Chef you will be responsible for the mentoring and development of a talented team of chefs and apprentices. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career.

The Junior/Sous Chef will:
►Have the relevant experience. This should be backed up by a history of previous work that will be referenced.
►NVQ level 1&2 or similar. Level 3 beneficial.
►Will have as a minimum a current Basic Food Hygiene certificate or more preferable a Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
►Have good leadership skills and a team player.
►Have excellent communication skills, confident to run a service, supervise and also train the junior team.
►Take charge of the kitchen in absence of the head and senior sous chef confidently.
►Good multi-tasker.
►Requires flair to introduce new ideas for menus & specials
You must be able to work 48hrs a week on a shift pattern of 4 days on and 3 days off

Chef de Partie required:

£19,000- £20,000 Salary dependent on experience.

We are currently recruiting for a chef de partie to join our team at a busy gastro pub. Immediate start required.
Your role will be to deliver consistently high quality meals to our customers.
You will need to be passionate about cooking, hard working and reliable.
You must be able to work well within a team and have experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
You must be able to work split shifts and weekends.
Own transport is essential due to the location of the pub.

Chef Responsibilities:
►Assist in the running of a kitchen, working with the Sous Chef and Head Chef and also in their absence
►Confident in running all sections
►Constantly advising the Head Chef and Sous Chef on needs and ordering requirements
►Checking the cleanliness, stock control, organisation and standards.
►Work as part of a team in a constructive manner and have a committed approach to the development of creative service in the kitchen.
►Be aware of Health and Safety and Hygiene regulations
►Training new staff and helping them develop their own career
►You must have worked as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in your previous role.
**You will be required to complete a 1 week trial followed by a review **

Commis Chef required

From £NMV - £8 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Commis Chef to join our friendly team in a busy gastro pub.
Job Requirements:
►Assist other chefs in the kitchen
►Basic food preparation
►Maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety
►Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation
►Must be able to work evenings and weekends up to 40 hours per week.
This position will suit any college levers looking to gain kitchen experience.
Full training provided with the option to gain an NVQ professional chef qualification.
